The
creation, development, and refinement of new forms have
been an important and major subject matter among many artists.
As an artist, my concern is to find a art form which is
narrative, illusive, immersive, and interactive that can
fully engage in and reflect this layered age of images and
information in which we live. My recent art works mirror
my own journey both artistically and culturally in an East/West
axis. They reveal my belief, enlightenment, and love by
the combination of Christianity and my unique childhood
in eastern cultures and religions.
Based
on my unique background in visual arts, social science,
computer arts and performing arts, my art practices show
a strong sense of the theatrical with advanced technologies
dealing with social, cultural, religious, spiritual and
theatrical themes such as race, class, gender, sexuality,
nation, ideology, faith, and power. These practices start
from the experiments with concepts of body, time, space,
and narrative and relate those to physical and virtual storytelling,
virtual reality, motion capture-animation, performance-technology,
interactive art, multimedia installation, and the more amalgamated
version, the highly collaborative multimedia performance.
I
am interested in experimenting with several different performance
languages from software, video, animation, theatre, music,
and sensual and physical sensing technology, but my ultimate
interest is creating a new hybrid and amalgamated vision
by integrating these different languages and variant aesthetics
at once.
